Get fresh with spring’s exciting new colours

4th April 2017

With so many fabulous new decorating colours, designs and styles to choose from, now is the perfect time to update your home. Get set to say ‘Bye-bye, winter’ and ‘Hello there, spring!’

There’s just something about spring that makes us want to lighten up and brighten up – whether that’s in the clothes we wear, the food we eat or in the way we style our homes. So this season, we took inspiration from colour experts Pantone and their Spring 2017 Fashion Color Report to bring you a few of the shades that your home simply can’t be without this spring.

1 Fall for Niagara

Pantone Niagara

This denim delight is a key colour for spring 2017, and you’ll see it popping up everywhere from frocks to furniture. Earthy in tone and ultimately soothing and tranquil, it’s the perfect relaxing shade for living rooms. Creating a fresh, modern vibe for your scheme, this true blue pairs beautifully with neutrals and is a dream date for this season’s hot metals, brass and bronze.

Take a look at this gorgeous teal/blue Clay curved corner sofa from our stylish French Connection collection. And at 1.85m tall, this Giant Ribbon floor lamp with a brassy-gold metallic base from Dwell is a real talking point.

2 Hello yellow

Pantone primrose yellow

Primroses are some of spring’s first flowers, so it’s no surprise this sunny shade features highly this season. It might be the colour of happiness and optimism, but full-on yellow can be a bit much (although it does look amazing teamed with dark wood and metal for a new take on industrial chic), so go easy and inject just a few rays of sunshine with a single statement sofa or some carefully chosen accessories to add oomph to your current furnishings.

The mellow-yellow Spritz sofa is a real eye catcher and would look stunning in an otherwise neutral room. And we love this New York City cushion from Dwell with its primrose flashes and iconic imagery.

3 Pale and very interesting

Pantone Pale Dogwood

Pink can be pretty polarising but we defy anyone to dislike this subtle pastel shade that’s bursting into bloom this spring. Its almost peachy undertones make it a shoo-in for pairing with a wide range of other colours – try it with darkly dramatic greys, pure whites or even brighter pinks (such as Pantone’s other key spring shade, Pink Yarrow). And, like many of the new spring colours, it’s simply gorgeous with gleaming brass accessories that bring out its underlying warmth.

Searching for the perfect pastel pink sofa? We think the Slate 4 Seater from our French Connection collection ticks those boxes, especially when offset with quirky accessories such as these metallic cactuses from Dwell.

4 The green light

Pantone Greenery

And, keeping the best to last, Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2017 is… Greenery! Fresh and fashionably fabulous, it’s the perfect spring shade to add some zing to your scheme. Its vibrant yellow-green hue reflects the foliage and the lushness of the garden, so it’s an easy way to bring the outside in until the weather gets warm enough to take the inside out! Greenery works brilliantly with cooler blues and is a match made in heaven with crisp whites, plus it’s a strong enough colour to stand up to this season’s on-trend geometric prints.
